Welcome to the Moor Farm holiday cottage website where we would like to show you our four beautiful cottages and yurt set in this idyllic spot just outside Godshill on the Isle of Wight. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The cottages and yurt belong to the Wells family business and we run them along with our wonderful team. Here is a potted version of our history explaining our involvement in this project.<\/p>\n

It was 50 years ago that the family company of A J Wells and Sons opened for business as an engineering company involved in a wide range of activities from car and agricultural machinery repairing to the manufacture of wrought iron gates.<\/p>\n

After only a few years the Company started to manufacture wood burning stoves and still does to this day in our factories here on the Isle of Wight, selling the Charnwood brand of clean burning, highly efficient stoves throughout the UK and to many markets around the world. <\/p>

Our early stoves required parts to be vitreous enamelled so in the late 1980s, after many supply problems, we decided to commission our own vitreous enamel plant. This led to further opportunities for branching out and we are now a major supplier of vitreous enamel, and other signage to London Underground ltd as well other exciting projects including Vlaze enamelled products and Bodj fairtrade fireside.<\/p>\n

In 2014, recognising the beautiful location of Moor Farm, we purchased the semi derelict barns and outbuildings on the site here with the intention of turning them into four comfortable dwellings, so others could share this gloriously peaceful place and return home refreshed. <\/p>\n

In 2023 we added the yurt to our repertoire, we chose to place it in the field where we had planted over 1000 trees in 2019. Our aim is to re-wild areas of the farm where we can in order to provide much needed habitat for native species. If you keep yours eyes open, you will see red squirrels, owls, lizards, kestrels and hares to name just a few. The yurt feels very much feels part of its surroundings and we hope that people will enjoy the connection with nature that is felt here.<\/p>\n

You can see in the accommodation examples of our enamel work, the kitchen work tops, the bathroom showers and outdoor kitchens. All four cottages and yurt are fitted with Charnwood wood burning stoves for when the weather is extra chilly. <\/p>
